The idea was a totally different one in the beginning.
But the process of transformation was good for the result.

Transdanubien

This is the place in Vienna which is ‘beyond’.
In order to get there you have to cross the river Danube.
In the past – when the old romans used to live here – they created this title for the place which wasn’t part of their empire anymore. Now it is in the middle of our city. And the city of Vienna is targeting to populate the areas across the river Danube more and more.

The Apartement of which I designed the interior is in a block planned by the architects Baumschlager Hutter Partners.
A decent architecture with impressive views from great terraces.

Contemplating in front of the simplicity of the Japanese wooden house…..
made us think “this place needs an artwork”…

… or it’ll become that

The idea is the process. To watch how it emerges and how it grows.
Therefore we keep going, still with new ideas:

It’s a Portfolio. It’s a Blog. It’s what we can do for you.

The outcome of more than 20 years of creative work is shown on these pages. The output reaches from solutions for the advertsing industry to furniture design and finals in the architecture of houses. The portfolio is set up like a blog. This format enables to provide a look behind the scenes. Very often it’s the story behind which makes the whole thing appealing.
Thanks for watching. Christoph Wanzel

Once upon a time…

there was a place to rest and calm down and it was well located next to the “stomach” of Vienna. Inhabitants enjoyed the odors and the ever changing tastes of this area. The place came with all amenities anyhow, so you could shop on the market and cook at home as well. And the price for the whole thing was less than bread and butter for a week. Yes it’s long long time ago that you could enjoy such lodgings. And today – it’s still the same.

HARD GRAFTING THE HILLS

The place, was such a romantic corner. It was stunning. At a time when I hadn’t realized that romantic in Europe and romantic in Japan is a very different thing… not even that there was no road to the house changed my mind. It was (european) romantic.

And so I started. The need of renovation was undeniable. This wasn‘t a house you could live in while working on it. So I started commuting every day Yokusuka Yokohama, back and forth back and forth.

Dancing tears as office table

A unique shape for an office – in general. Teardrops with edges.
And we made them dance. Cut the main table in two parts. In order to get a side table. Different surface colors emphasize the functions. Even the legs differ, not only by the attached wheels on the mobile part but also the shape.

Creative Direction in an Advertising Agency somethings includes interesting responsibilites. In this case it was setting up a completely new office for more than 100 people. In providing the interior designs. The public face of the office is the front desk. The meet to protect the girls sitting there and directing the heavy traffic in this spec was the obstacle in this case. Low cost and uniqueness as well of course.
