Das Ergebnis ist ein sehr freundlicher Artikel im RONDO, der Beilage des “DerStandard” vom  28. Oktober 2016.

Hintergründe über unser Leben werden da ausgeplaudert, aber was solls. Das Interior des Lokals ist in der Tat handgeschnitzt. Zumindest im übertragenen Sinne, denn tischlerisch ausgeführt hat es Ferdinand Krug von KRUG Design. Sehr feine Klinge, übrigens.

Überlegt habe ich es vor dem Hintergrund meiner Impressionen und Erfahrungen in Japan über viele Jahre. So ist es möglich dass ein Gaijin (so heissen die Ausländer dort) sich drüber traut ein nach Möglichkeit authentisch japanisches Lokal zu planen.

Die Idee ist direkt inspiriert von einer Jahrhunderte alten japanischen Konstruktionstechnik. An japanischen Tempeln zumeist erkennbar sind die weit ausladenden Dächer und  Vordächer. Das lässt sich machen indem mehrere Lagen von Streben übereinander angeordnet werden und jeweils ein klein Stück weiter nach aussen kragen. Nennt sich “Mochi Okuri” und bedeutet sinngemäß “give to send”.

Alles andere ist fein verarbeitete Eiche als Arbeits- und Tischplatten, ist bisschen Glas für die Vitrine UND viel viel ZAKKA. So nennt sich japanischer Krimskrams den wir in Form von Schalen, Geschirr und Kokeshi (zumeist in Form von Antiquitäten) in Japan zusammen gekauft und auf den Mochi-Okuri-Tischen ausgestellt haben.

In order to get there you have to cross the river Danube.
In the past – when the old romans used to live here – they created this title for the place which wasn’t part of their empire anymore. Now it is in the middle of our city. And the city of Vienna is targeting to populate the areas across the river Danube more and more.

The Apartement of which I designed the interior is in a block planned by the architects Baumschlager Hutter Partners.
A decent architecture with impressive views from great terraces.

We got 4 months. We had a house which was crap. So we needed another house to live in. This other house was located in Zushi. And we had a deadline for leaving this house: 30th of June which was 6 weeks after moving in. 6 weeks to make our own house in SHIOIRI habitable.

The house is on a mountain. No roads, no trucks. Just human power. At a temperature of 30° centigrade average, humidity 95%. Weightloss within 3 weeks: 5kg.

After 6 weeks we moved into the kitchen, where we cooked (certainly), slept, lived, played, did the homework (Noah went to school), loved (not so much):

The remaining time I finished as much as I could do. A Living room, a terrace, I installed an oven, I fixed the siding, the roof.
